Music at Great Bridge Primary School
At Great Bridge Primary School, our goal is to provide an excellent music education that is accessible, engaging, and enriching for all our pupils. We believe that music plays a vital role in fostering creativity, self-expression, cultural awareness, and personal growth. Our music curriculum is designed to inspire and motivate pupils, helping them develop a lifelong love and appreciation for music.
Our music lessons are delivered by specialist music teachers from Rock It Music who have expert knowledge in their field. They provide engaging and well-planned lessons that incorporate various teaching strategies, including vocal warm-ups, developing instrumental skills, learning music theory, and engaging in listening activities. Together, we ensure a balanced curriculum that covers a wide range of musical genres, styles, and traditions that provide opportunities for pupils to listen, perform, compose, and evaluate music.
Our music curriculum is thoughtfully designed to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum. We adapt it to suit the specific needs and interests of our pupils, ensuring that it remains inclusive and accessible for all. We celebrate the cultural diversity of our school community by incorporating music from different cultures and promoting respect for musical traditions from around the world. We also employ strategies to cater to the individual abilities of pupils, including those with special educational needs or disabilities, embracing our school values of “all valued, all achieving, all equal,”
